True to his word Matt, with his trusty stead (clothing, towel and camera carrier) headed for the lake at morning o'clock. I have video footage for a price but needless to say he went and conquered (breath a little zapped by the cold) and I was proud of his accomplishment. It all looked extemely idyllic...and I was pleased I stayed on the bank, like a woos;)
The only thing to top this feat was a glacial trip so we drove to town ready to part with some bucks.
The glimpse of blue sky had given us hope for the perfect helicopter weather but we soon realised we'd missed the daddy of all trips (Franz Josef, Fox and Cook plus landing) and we're left with just Franz and no landing. Still a chunk of the budget but we couldn't come all this way and miss the opportunity.
Decision made, helicopter and photo opportunity ready...
how excited are we!
Wow...
OMG!
there was so much more but we'd bore you silly. Take a look at my cheesy grin to see how much I enjoyed the experience.
Coming back down to earth we headed up the coast to Greymouth. Matt took a 'cheap man's shot' of Shantytown
and we spent our budget on a camp site with showers, ooh we'll sleep well tonight.
