Well the sleeper train went supprisingly well!  After boarding the train at 8pm and arriving 12 hours later I think we probably slept for at least half of it.

On arrival at Chiang Mai station we were greeted with a more than required selection of tuk tuk and taxi drivers ready to over charge us.  Always a good time to grab a coffee and wait for the dust to settle.

After dropping our bags at the guesthouse we went exploring around the old city seeing the sites.  Di is seen here popping in to have some of those aches and pains sorted out.

Chiang Mai is a lovely city with a fine selection of eateries, very easy to blow the budget.  We've spent a day seeing the sights in the city,

...and a day heading out into the hills visiting more temples, jungle treks...

...lots of waterfalls....

...and finally heading back into the city for some more fine cuisine.
We found (good old Tripadvisor) a fantastic restaurant run by a Thai lady and had a fantastic last meal in Thailand before we head to the Laos border tomorrow.

We will miss Chiang Mai but are ready for three days by bus, tuk tuk and slow boat to Luang Prabang, also means several days without wifi so possible radio silence for a while xx
